Newsletter July 2023
In God is my salvation en my glory,
the rock of my strength and my refuge, is in God.   Ps. 62:7

    Dear friends,

Looking back at the time visiting many of you this summer, there are so many fond memories of special times: sharing our hearts; hearing your stories and many cups of tea! A heartfelt thank you to all who received me and opened your hearts to the ministry in Mision Adulam.

Coming back home was a bit of a hurdle, I came down with Covid but as from today I am in the clear thank God. Now I am meeting daily with Felina, at times from a distance, and catching up on all that's been happening in the mission. There is much to share so this newsletter is longer than usual.

Last month we celebrated the 31th anniversary of Mision Adulam, I was in through Zoom which was great. We felt both humbled and honoured by the expressions of appreciation, through an acknowledgement from the Senate as well as from a couple of schools we work with. One of these read: "Don't doubt of the value of your work and neither of the presence of the only teacher: Jesus."

Tania and Ivanka I told you about in the last letter, are doing well. Tania (picture on the left) went back home to the rural area. She told staff, in her farewell at the conclusion of her rehabilitation process, that she wants to look for a church and speak with her family about her faith. She comes from rural Bolivia, her parents are very traditional in their beliefs and she might be in for a tough time coming home. Will you please pray for her?
Ivanka is doing better though struggling at times, but she told Felina that her desire is to finish well! What a blessing after the difficulties we had with her, and though it still isn’t easy, there's hope seeing the Lord at work in her life. Ivanka hopes to win the prize of the school, the best student will get some money. She already is one of the best of the class, and is studying hard!

In Adulam we said goodbye to Derrik. When he left yesterday, John wept like a baby as in Derrik he found a friend who helped him. John is a big child of 13 yrs. old. He has limitations and knows that he lost a helper. One of the other boys first was taking the mickey out of him but then understood his struggle and went over to embrace John. Please continue to pray for John (boy in black alongside Felina and Derrik in picture).

Julio and Maquena from church came to Jesed to speak about the life in family and values, they did this from a clear Christian perspective. We had 42 parents there, who were really receptive. Their children were also there, in all there were about 115 people in the house! Two pictures above. When Maquena called to repentance, a lady received the Lord into her life.
And!! Sunday she was in church and Maquena was able to follow up with her!

Felina and I are working hard to fulfil all the requirements for the renewal of our NGO status. These are tedious jobs that unfortunately are also part of our responsibilities. Coming Friday I will meet with the lawyer to get an update on the status of our pending red tape. We very much covet your prayers for all this to come to a good conclusion. Thank you for listening, you are a highly valued and indispensable part of the ministry in Bolivia! Bye, may the Lord bless and keep you. This comes with love and warm greetings in Jesus,
Fineke and all in Mision Adulam.

The Lord bless and keep you, may you have a beautiful autum!  Bye, with love,
