In God is my salvation en my glory,
the rock of my strength and my refuge, is in God.
Psalm 62:7

Dear friends,

It is hard to believe I've been home for 6 weeks already, after furlough in the Netherlands. And I hit the ground running, no time to ponder too much on all that happened during this period.. A week after arriving home, I was in a representative march with the team, in honour of the day of La Paz. Five slow hours walking, but we had to be there, as allies of the child protection services in our region. We aim to maintain good relationships with them which is a matter for prayer.

This letter is late, as so many things have been happening. Just last week I travelled to the city of Cochabamba to accompany Felina, whose father went to be with the Lord. Some other travelling was to visit Dutch prisoners in Paraguay and another city in Bolivia. I do this as a volunteer for the Dutch Epafras foundation, that facilitates this. There was a special moment praying with one man who doesn't normally talk to the Father. He was moved and I hope and pray he will start reading the Bible I gave him.

I also spent time in three other prisons, visiting with the prison ministry team from our local church and sharing from the scriptures. A mountain of medicines had arrived at my house, waiting to be sorted, which I managed with the amazing help of 4 friends. So we could bless 3 prison medical posts. Most went to the high security prison for currently 900 men. We had an amusing moment when the police considered to check all bags against my list of 290 medicines. Thankfully they trusted us and the doctor, as that would have taken all day! While handing all to the doctor, I could hear the nurse yell at one of the inmates who needed an injection: "go find a syringe and Ill help you". Thankfully we brought a couple of hundred syringes...

Both the boys in Adulam and the girls in Talita Cumi participated in the educational Olympics, taking Math's and other exams to compete on a national level with all other secondary school children. They really studied hard, we are now waiting for the results. Janeth of 15 yrs old is only just in 5th grade primary school, but because of her good grades, she received a parcel of notebooks, pencils and other school materials.

With the teams we evaluated the reach of the ministry recently, and hope to learn and grow, to serve our young people and children better. It is sobering to realise that we are entrusted with teenagers and children from parents who often have lost hope. Because of some seriously difficult teenagers in the house we have needed to implement more staff, especially in the nights and weekends. Staff in the boys’ house does a round through the house at 03.00 in the morning which isn't great for their own rest but necessary.

Needless to say that having more staff also has an impact on the funds we need every month. This morning I read the challenge: "isn't the Lord with us"? Yes He is! I was also reminded that my Redeemer lives!  So we cry out to Him to help us, as we face staff challenges but also the tremendous increase in prices for food and virtually everything.

Picture: With Bolivian board and FelinaYesterday we celebrated 32 years of the establishing of Mision Adulam and the faithfulness of the Lord. We are very grateful that  you are and have been part of this incredible journey. Do pray for us, Felina and I are working hard on administrative updates in accordance with the new government regulations. Pray we will get all done in good time, and for the Lord's favour.
